Our ultimate goal at Astra Bank is to help others fulfill their dreams by providing dependable financial advice and service to our customers and communities. One of the ways we hope to accomplish this important mission is through supporting our schools. Astra Bank’s School Spirit Debit Card program is devoted to giving back to our communities through supporting our youth’s education.
On Friday, February 14th, Doug Wiltfong, Plainville Market President, and Mitchell Dickinson, Loan Officer at Astra Bank, presented a check in the amount of $700.00 to Lisa Gehring, Superintendent of USD 270.

These funds come from Astra Bank’s School Spirit Debit Card program. Astra Bank customers can support their local school through purchasing a custom school debit card. The $5.00 fee goes towards the school they choose to support. In addition to this, Astra Bank will make a donation on a portion of every transaction the debit card is used for.
With enough support from the community, these amounts add up to significant funds that can help schools supply their classrooms with the necessities they need to better teach their students.
Presenting USD 270 with this check was a distinctive moment for Wiltfong, who said, “What makes the check presentation special is getting to give something to our schools from Astra Bank and our customers that use the school debit card to make purchases. With funding being less to our school systems from the state, any funds that an organization can generate and donate back to the schools is a plus in my books.”
These funds build up all year round and an Astra Bank customer can come in at any time and get switched to a School Spirit debit card. We look forward to handing more of these checks out in the future.
