Astra Bank is pleased to announce the hiring of Deron O’Connor as its Senior Vice President – Chief Operating Officer.  O’Connor comes to Astra Bank from Commerce Bank, where he served as Market President in Hays, Kansas.  In that role, O’Connor had responsibility for leading a team that provided banking services for a loan portfolio of nearly $100 million and $220 million in customer deposits.  Prior to his 20 year tenure with Commerce Bank, O’Connor worked for Lang Diesel, Inc. as the Comptroller and Finance Manager and for the Office of the State Bank Commissioner as a Field Examiner.  O’Connor has been actively involved within the Hays community serving on numerous civic and economic development boards, all in a leadership capacity.

In his new role, O’Connor will be focused on enabling all of Astra Bank’s branch locations to provide dependable financial advice and service to the eight communities Astra Bank serves in Kansas and Nebraska.  “We are excited to add Deron O’Connor to the Astra Bank team,” stated Kyle Campbell, President & CEO of Astra Bank.  “He has a very deep understanding of our culture, and we are excited to have his expertise in this role.”

O’Connor joined the Astra Bank team on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, and will provide leadership to all of Astra Bank’s Market Presidents.
