Recognition of an employee who has significantly contributed to the overall success of Astra Bank...that is the mission of the Shining Star program. This award is given out on a quarterly basis to an employee who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in their day-to-day work. Nominations are submitted by their fellow peers. Astra Bank is pleased to announce the two recipients of the “Shining Star” award for the 2^nd quarter of 2017 are Chandler Johnston and Vicki Nothern!

Chandler has been with Astra Bank just over one year.  In that short period of time, Chandler has been a great help during the recent acquisition, and has shown patience when assisting staff with new systems and procedures. There are additional reasons why Chandler was nominated (and chosen) as a recipient for the award. These include:

• Chandler has superior customer service skills, banking knowledge, clerical, computer and communications skills;
• Chandler has also been very helpful with new customers and new personalities;
• She answers all questions with a smile and never makes you feel like you are bothering her (even when she is busy);
• Chandler has a great personality… she is cheerful, funny, laid back and never gets angry;
• Chandler is a quick learner and is great at multi-tasking;
• Chandler is a joy to work with.

With not quite a year under her belt, Vicki has had a huge impact on the Scandia location. Her positive attitude and willingness to tackle anything that is asked of her has been a true asset to Astra Bank. Other reasons Vicki was nominated (and chosen) for the award is:

• She makes sure our customers get the service they deserve and is not afraid to go the extra mile;
• Vicki has done an excellent job at keeping everyone on task and making sure that every customer is taken care of;
• Vicki takes time to sit down and train on banking processes and is willing to share her 40+ years of banking experience.  This has been a tremendous help to the front line so that we can better help serve our customers;
• She is always willing to take on new projects and makes an appearance at community events (i.e. Baby contest for Riverfest);
• She always takes the initiative for the gift display, which has been very helpful;
• We are glad to have Vicki as part of the Astra Bank family.
