Astra Bank recently kicked off a new recurring series called Astra VMP, which stands for Video Marketing Presentations. These VMP’s provide a great way to share what is going on not only in the bank but to also educate our customers on a variety of banking topics. In light of October being Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we thought it was the perfect time to educate our customers on the topic a little more.

So what is cybersecurity? Cybersecurity are measures taken to protect a computer or computer system (as on the Internet) against unauthorized access or attack (Source: Merriam-Webster). Cybersecurity encompasses phishing, ransomware, and many other ways scammers try to obtain your personal information. Phishing is very common amongst scammers. They try to persuade you to click on what appears to be a legitimate email when in all reality they only want to obtain your personal information. Always think before you click.
